DUI Task Force
Fatality Traffic Investigation

Special Events
The units goal is to reduce motor vehicle traffic accidents and injuries and to enhance the safe and expeditious flow of pedestrians and motor vehicles through voluntary compliance with traffic regulation in the City of Macon. The unit seeks to achieve these objectives through a combination of enforcement and education activities.
Accident Investigation & Traffic Enforcement
The investigation of traffic accidents is necessary, not only to determine traffic law violations, but also to protect the rights of the individuals involved, to obtain engineering data, and to assist in traffic education. In accidents involving fatalities and serious bodily injury, the same rules apply, only to a greater extent.
All traffic units are equipped with radar units. Speed detection trailers are used daily throughout the city. We also utilize laser units for speed detection.
DUI Task Force
The DUI Task Force's objective is to reduce alcohol and/or drug related traffic offenses. The unit deploys personnel who are specially trained and equipped to stop, arrest and prosecute any person who is driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as these individuals present a direct and immediate threat to the welfare and safety of the general public.
Fatality Accident Investigators
Fatality traffic investigators are primarily responsible for investigations concerning fatal traffic accidents, collection of statistical data, and the analysis for the Macon Police Department accident prevention program. This unit is in charge of the accident scene and will make the determination of what course of action to take as to when to remove vehicles, make photographs, place holds on vehicles, etc. Parking Enforcement
Parking Enforcement employees are responsible patrolling the downtown area and recording tag numbers through the use of handheld computers. Any vehicle found to be in violation of the two hour parking limit will be issued a parking citation. This unit will install an Immobilizing Device (Boot) on all vehicles that have accumulated over $100 worth of unpaid parking citations.
